Habitual thief gets 9 years added sentence for stock theft

appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini.
He was convicted after a full trial.
Mr Jarabini treated the counts as one for purposes of sentence and slapped Mhepo with a 10-year jail term.
Mhepo had one year of his sentence suspended on condition that he restitutes Daniel Makaripe of US$1 800 payable end of December.
Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa told the court that on an unknown date in October last year, Mhepo, in company of Nelson Ngwendere, who is still at large, proceeded to Larnack Farm paddock where they stole three beasts.
The second accomplice allegedly proceeded to look for transport.
Mr Ndambakuwa further said that Nelson sought a police clearance dated July 16, 2011 and transported the beasts to Harare where they sold them. Authorities at Larnack farm noticed that three beasts were missing and made a police report, which led to his arrest.
