Phone hacking scam hits queen of gospel hard!
A CRUEL and evil hacker is going all out to destroy the reputation of Rebecca Malope.
The gospel queen’s SIM card was hacked after she did a SIM swap at Vodacom last Monday. And now, the hacker is calling people b******, asking Malope’s fans for money and telling them not to buy her music through her WhatsApp.
“This is defamation of character,” said the famous Angingedwa hit-maker.
“I don’t know anything about these WhatsApp things. I first realised there was something wrong when my daughter Nolu told me I’d changed my profile picture and status. She told me my status said I’d been arrested and I needed money for bail,” said a puzzled Malope.
She said an account number for people to deposit money had also been availed.
“If they don’t deposit money, the hacker swears at them saying they must stop buying my music.”
She said all this happened after she got a new phone from Vodacom and had her initial SIM card swapped for a micro SIM.
“They transferred all my information to my new phone.”
The same Monday she changed her SIM card, she got an SMS from the network notifying her of a SIM request on her account. She immediately called them to tell them not to allow it, as the number belonged to her.
