WARRIORS defender Teenage Hadebe has been ruled out of Monday’s group B AFCON match against rivals South Africa.

The match kicksoff at 6pm.

The defender sustained an injury in the first half of the match against Angola.

Medical staff have not cleared him for Monday’s showdown.

Hadebe expressed his disappointment at missing the encounter.

Hadebe, a former Kaizer Chiefs player, would have spiced up things with his presence.
The defender is set for further assessment to determine the extent of the injury and how long he will remain on the sidelines.

“It’s heartbreaking. I was desperate to fight for the badge in every single game, but this injury has struck,” said Hadebe.

“I am still awaiting a full assessment to understand the timeline, but I am hopeful of a quick recovery. If the team progresses to the next round, I aim to be ready to contribute,” he said.

As the Warriors prepare for the battle against Bafana Bafana, Hadebe will be rallying behind the other boys from the sidelines. He believes South Africa will fall.

“While I can’t be on the pitch, I will be there on the sidelines, backing the boys all the way. Now, my role is to support those who will go out and do the job.

“I believe we still have every opportunity to get the result we need against South Africa. The key is for the boys to adhere strictly to the coach’s plan and execute it with precision,” said Hadebe.

The Warriors lost 2-1 to Egypt in the opening encounter before sharing spoils with Angola. A win will be enough for the Warriors to go to the next round as a second or best third placed team depending on the Egypt and Angola game outcome.
