Musicians D Lax and Acquillah K have joined forces on an Afro-beats track that serves as an advice anthem for people in relationships.

Titled Hamba Juba, the song produced at Kulture Studios by Sparks 45 was released on Monday. The video, shot by Visuals by Corey, was filmed at Abathwa Resorts in the Matopo region.

D Lax said the track draws inspiration from the African proverb “Hamba Juba bazakucutha phambili”, which warns that a disobedient person will eventually suffer the consequences of their actions or refusal to heed advice.

“The proverb is usually said to someone who wants to do something they’ve been warned against. We used this concept to create a love song that reflects common squabbles in romantic relationships.

“As many say ‘umjolo uyanyisa’ (relationships bring pain), this song carries a message that many who’ve been through difficult times in love can relate to. The video portrays a sad young couple, exhausted from constant arguments, who ultimately decide to part ways,” said D Lax.
