ELVIS Moyo is excited about the prospect of fighting on home soil.
In an interview from his Edenvale Gym base in Johannesburg, South Africa, Moyo who a fortnight ago lost his Extreme Fighting Championship heavyweight title on a technicality, confirmed on Tuesday morning that he is due to fight in Harare on November 21.
“My handlers in Harare have indicated to me that I should stay in shape. I am due to fight in a heavyweight contest on November 21. There is no resting, I am working to be in shape by that date,” said Moyo.
Moyo started off as a boxer in Bulawayo. He was Thamsanqa Dube the former heavyweight champion’s sparring partner under Phillip Striker.
He continued with boxing until about a decade ago when he decided to try his hand at mixed martial arts.
But before fighting in the ‘cage’ Moyo was at one time African heavyweight boxing division in the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
In April he won the Extreme Fighting Championships heavyweight title but relinquished it a fortnight ago after failing to make the weight limit by 800 grammes ahead of his title defence against Matunga Djikasa of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
