ACTING City of Harare town clerk Advocate Warren Chiwawa said workplaces need to prioritise health and wellness issues to address daunting socio-economic and developmental challenges in communities, as well as tackle the relentless burden of preventable diseases.
Speaking at the City of Harare Employee Wellness Funfair held at Alexandra Park Sports Club today, Adv Chiwawa said that against this backdrop, employee health and wellness programmes become an essential tool to ease the burden of disease in an organisation.
He thanked sponsors for the partnership in hosting the event.
“We hope that our partnerships will continue to grow proportionally to the realisation of this noble goal of a healthy lifestyle among employees,” he said.

Adv Chiwawa said the city is aligning all staff performance contracts, strengthening inclusion of persons with disabilities, women and girls while pushing the service delivery agenda forward through similar synergies.
“We are aligning our activities to the masterplan and reinforcing service delivery accountability through universal performance contracts with measurable outcomes,” he said.
Representing Harare mayor, Councillor George Mujajati, urged City of Harare employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
He said if employees were healthy, service delivery would be achieved.
Clr Mujajati said wellness cannot be achieved in a day, but through a process, which entails living a healthy lifestyle and diet.
He urged the employees to cut down on unhealthy and sugary foods and instead eat traditional foods and to exercise.
