Harare City Council tackles procurement challenges

Ward 16 Harare West Councillor Denford Ngadziore says the City of Harare is experiencing procurement challenges, which are being addressed.

This follows a meeting held two weeks ago between the council, the State Procurement Board and the President’s Office, where they agreed on a roadmap which will speed up procurement of emergency services and water.

Speaking at a Ward 16 meeting to deal with robberies on Monday, Cllr Ngadziore said the council anticipates that the issue will be solved as soon as possible.

Cllr Ngadziore said there are plans to expand the council toilet at Mabelreign Shopping Centre.

He said bricks are already at the district office for expansion of the toilets, which, after completion, are expected to have bathrooms.

“Bricks are also available to expand the Mabelreign market. Our problem as council is mostly statutory, but as I said, a solution is now in place,” he said.

“So we now have a solution towards levies that residents are billed, including the street lights levy, water levy and emergency services.”
