HARARE City Council has denied selling residential stands and warned home seekers of being fleeced by fraudulent agents.

The council warned that it had not signed any agent contracts for the sale of land, and those dealing with bogus agents are at a risk of losing money.

Reports of land sales by fraudulent agents have recently emerged.

In a statement, the council said that it did not have agreements with any agents, and home seekers risked their hard-earned cash by engaging them.

“We would like to advise all home seekers that we are not selling any residential stands in Harare, particularly in Westlea, and we did not contract any agents to sell land on our behalf.

“Council has received several reports of land sales in and around the city by bogus agents who are purporting to be working in conjunction with the City.

“The City does not have such agreements in place with any person or agent hence any home seeker dealing with the bogus agents risks losing their hard-earned cash.”

Meanwhile, town clerk, Hosea Masango, said rehabilitation of Mbare sewers was now at 80 percent.

“We have laid over 80 percent of the sewer pipes in Mbare and water reticulation is now in progress. We are sure that everything will be done by the end of this month,” he said.
