BULAWAYO Premier Soccer League club Chicken Inn have confirmed that they were keen to sign Maxwell Mburayi who joined Harare City this week.The former Highlanders player is said to have been offered a housing stand and $1 000 signing-on fee by Chicken Inn.
Joey Antipas admitted the interest in the player whose stock rose following good performances at Triangle FC last year.
“Yes, we were interested in Mburayi, but as you know how transfer market matters go, we were beaten to his signature,” he said.
Antipas worked with the forward during their stint at the relegated outfit Motor Action last season before the gaffer joined the Gamecocks while the latter moved to the lowveld outfit Triangle.
Former Triangle striker Mburayi could join Polokwane City in July after undergoing trials with the South African side last month before being told by the club that they had exhausted their foreign quota.
Antipas said they are still in search of a creative midfielder, as they are most likely to lose Kuda Mahachi and Danny Phiri who are linked to moves to Highlanders.
“The window is still open and we are hoping to add a few players to the squad, but we cannot disclose who we are in contact with because it might jeopardise our deals,” said Antipas.
The Bulawayo based outfit has landed the services of Passmore Bernard from Motor Action as well as the relegated Monomotapa duo of Morgan Mukombwe and Ishmael Lawe in their camp.
