THE City of Harare, in partnership with Helcraw Water, will next week begin a major water pipeline replacement project along Douglas Road in Southerton as part of efforts to upgrade the city’s water supply infrastructure.

According to a notice issued by Acting Town Clerk Advocate Warren Chiwawa, the works will run from Monday, July 6, to July 31, 2026.

“The City of Harare, in collaboration with Helcraw Water, advises residents and business owners along Douglas Road, Southerton, that water pipe replacement works will take place from July 6 to July 31, 2026, to improve water supply infrastructure,” reads the notice.

“Residents and business owners are requested to remove illegal structures and obstructions along the pipeline route to allow the works to proceed smoothly.”

The pipeline replacement forms part of ongoing efforts by the City of Harare and Helcraw Water to modernise ageing water infrastructure, reduce pipe bursts and improve the reliability of water supplies across the capital.
