The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority yesterday announced that this year’s Harare International Carnival has been moved from September to October.
In a statement, ZTA said they have moved the dates because some participants had other commitments in September.
“The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority wishes to advise you that dates for the Harare International Carnival have been moved from 14-17 September to 6-9 October 2016. This new development was prompted by the majority of responses from both the local and foreign participants who cited prior commitments during the previously set dates but formally expressed their interest to participate at the festival,” reads part of the statement.
ZTA said they took into consideration the concerns raised by the participants and moved it to later dates to accommodate them.
“The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) considered it prudent to take heed of the concerns so as to provide a platform that benefits both parties. We are still looking forward to welcome you to the Harare International Carnival 2016 as we celebrate our cultural diversity,”
The most popular part of the carnival is the street party that attracted a record crowd last year while Samba Dancers from Brazil always steal the show.
