HARARE Kings head coach Tafara Chirambira believes the sky is the limit after they conquered the country by winning the national title Sunday night.
They thrashed seasoned campaigners JBC 82-40 in Bulawayo.
Chirambira said the next stage, which is representing the country, will now demand more investment and better recruitment.
“Obviously we are looking beyond just that win on Sunday. We have to look at the bigger picture,” he said.
Fresh off conquering Harare basketball, the newboys have now added the national title to the growing list of achievements.
Entering the elite ranks only this season, Harare Kings were initially viewed as energetic outsiders still learning the demands of top-flight basketball.
Yet, under the stewardship of Chirambira and his technical team, the Kings transformed themselves into a ruthless, well-drilled machine that swept through the national tournament with authority.
Among the standout performers was South African international Nkosinathi Sibanyoni, whose imposing presence and composure gave Kings dominance.
Sibanyoni’s influence throughout the tournament justified management’s bold recruitment strategy and highlighted the club’s growing professional ambition.
Equally sensational was Dyvonne Pfachi, who capped a magnificent tournament with another commanding performance on the biggest stage.
Together, Sibanyoni and Pfachi formed a devastating partnership that JBC simply could not contain.
Asked if they will go regional to further strengthen the team, Chirambira said: “We are mostly looking at South Africa because they have managed to professionalise the game. So, yes,. We have to invest if we are to make an impact.”
He added: “The margin of win over JBC could have been worse… But we respect them as our seniors.”
