Harare leads NASH athletics championships

HARARE Province started the 2025 National Association of Secondary School Heads Athletics Championships on a high by jumping to the lead on the medal table on Wednesday.

This year’s finals are being held at Chipadze High School in Bindura.

At the end of the first day, Harare had amassed 29 medals of which 12 were gold, nine silver and eight bronze.

In second was Mashonaland East with 10 gold, six silver and nine bronze medals. Mashonaland West were lying third with nine gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals.

Questions continue to plug the three Matabeleland Provinces, Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South who at the end of the first day were at the basement of the 10-team championships.

Matabeleland South were eighth with four gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

Bulawayo were ninth with two gold, eight silver and six bronze while Matabeleland North had one gold, two silver and as many bronze as once again they continue to struggle at this level.

The championships continue on Thursday.
