Harare to host bowling Masters

the first day both men and women bowlers will play three games.
Kerry Crave of Alexandra Sports Club, who is part of the organisers, said all was now set for the prestigious tournament.

“This is one of the best and most prestigious tournaments and all is in place ahead of the event.
“Harare bowlers have been training twice a week at Alexandra Sports Club and Highlands Sports Club.
“It is an honour to be selected to play at the Masters as this is a very prestigious singles tournament and I am planning to take the game as it comes.

“It is unpredictable as it involves most of the country’s strong bowlers.
“We are going to play three games on the first day, four on the second and two on the last day.” Caven said.
Denis Streak and Trish Davies are the current champions of the Masters tournament.

The Masters is played annually in May and last year it took place in Bulawayo.
Some of the female bowlers to take part include Jane Rigby, Heather Singleton, Debbie Robertson, Dru Smith, Ally Dale, Mel James, Jay Patterson and Olly Baker.

The men’s team will see the likes of Tom Craven, Dave Bryan, Clive Robertson, Bryan Ray, Roy Garden, Terry Bowes and Jono Evans.
Apart from the country’s top bowlers taking part, the tournament has some reserves that will stand by in case of emergency calls.
Coro McDonnell, Ursula Gripper and Poppie Scheepers are the reserves for the women’s team while Norman Gardiner, Manuel Silva and Mike Eaton will stand in for the men.
