Harare to host food, wine expo

The first of its kind in recent years, the expo will afford people in the catering industry and the public in general an opportunity to carouse, while networking with people who have got the same interests.

The expo kicks off on Friday and ends on Sunday.
Event co-ordinator Debbie Peters said the expo was aimed at showcasing a wide range of products available locally and in the region.
“A lot has been happening in the region and we want the local people to connect and at least share notes on the products that are available.”

There would be several food, wine manufacturers, distributors and retailers exhibiting various food and wine products.
Apart from food and wine, a lot of entertainment has been lined up for the three-day event, and this will include fashion show, Zumba demos that will be done by the Body Active Gym, music, and lots of games for children.

Some of the exhibitors who have already registered include Kia Motors Zimbabwe, Aromatic Apothecary South Africa, Lonrho Hotels, AMC Cookware, Body Active Gym, Nando’s Zimbabwe and Heineken.

Peters, who has hosted several international events in the past, urged local and regional organisations to make use of the expo in showcasing their products to both the local and regional market.
“People’s lifestyles are changing everyday and more often than not, consumers are always looking for goods that meet their requirements.

“So the expo will be an opportune event for companies who in the food and wine industry to market their products to the local market,” she said.
Food and wine expos are a common feature in several countries in the region and across the globe.

They are usually held in summer and are often regarded as family days, while manufacturers make use of them to gauge the performance of their branded products while marketing their new and established product range.
