THE next generation of Harare-based drivers will be out to showcase their motor racing skills when they invade Bulawayo’s Motorsport Park for the John Love & Peter Parnell Memorial Race Day on Saturday.

The John Love & Peter Parnell Memorial Race Day, dubbed “The Battle of the Beasts”, is the penultimate round of the 2023 main circuit racing season and it has attracted competitors from both Harare and Bulawayo.

The “crew” from Harare will be led by a number of teenagers and young drivers who are into their early 20s who have been into main circuit racing of late.

And they include the exciting 17-year-old female driver Catherine Zevgolis, 15-year-old Michael Mukori, Justin Goode (19), Ryan Winterboer (16), Dylan Pragji (18), Declan Mellor (16) and Jordan Watt (20).

According to the organisers of this Saturday’s event, for Zevgolis, this will be her first time racing at Bulawayo Motorsport Park at the age of 17. This will also be her second event she’s competing in this year. Her previous race event was at the July main circuit racing at Donnybrook Park Raceway in Harare where she did extremely well in her Class.

Zevgolis drives a 1600 Honda CRX in the Saloon Class. Her dad, the legendary local motor racing driver Mano Zevgolis, taught her to drive at the young age of 11 and she has always attended motor racing events with her dad. Catherine has always had a keen interest in motosport events from drags to main circuit racing and now finally she is on the tracks!

“At the moment I’m just happy to be taking part in motor racing and hope to grow within the sport.
