“We are not losing sleep over the verdict release as we still believe we presented our facts and the outcome will be released. If there is anything we are hopeful the verdict will be out before the new year.
“The main worrying thing is there has been little communication on the reasons for the delay. However, we will remain patient and we urge our supporters to exercise patience,” said Chikwanda.
He is expected to lead the team’s delegation to Harare this morning for the anticipated verdict that should have been released a fortnight ago.
Hardbody, found guilty by the Reginald Chidawanyika-chaired disciplinary committee over 14 counts of using “irregularly registered” Tatenda Chingarah, appealed against the docking of 42 points.
The latest delay could have been the result of a related appeal case concerning Raymond Mugandani which was heard last Friday.
This came as soccer fans in Gweru castigated the delay in the release of the verdict which has dampened passion for the game in the city.
Doubt Mutsambiwa urged Zifa to expedite the outstanding cases so as to enable the eventual winner to get enough time to plan for the new season. “We seem not to have learnt anything from the Zimbabwe Saints/Quelaton saga and continue to repeat the same mistake.
“The soccer year must come to an end with all its cases. Now we have a situation where the Hardbody case is likely to spill into the new year.
“This means whoever wins promotion from this league will not get enough time to plan for the next season which will obviously have an impact on the team’s performance.
“How we have a case centred on the March registration still affecting progress seven months down the line is a cause of concern which should be addressed,” said Mutsambiwa.
Blessing Nyoni urged Zifa to root out alleged corruption.
“I am happy there have been efforts to root out corruption in the game which has resulted in the problems affecting the game today,” said Nyoni.
Nelson Kugwedera urged clubs to win their matches on the field of play and not to resort to manoeuvres to gain promotion through technicalities.
