Hardrock assembles killer machine

ZIFA Central Region Soccer League newboys Hardrock FC of Kwekwe seem to have assembled a “killermachine” ahead of the start of the 2025 season.

A number of experienced players that include goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya, defender Munyaradzi Diro Nyenye, strikers Cleopas Dube, Obert Malajila, Donald Ngoma and Newman Sianchali have all signed for the club.

It is like the club has assembled a vicious pack of hunting dogs.

Mawaya is a former Hwange goalminder and Nyenye had a Premier Soccer League (PSL) playing stint with Harare City. Malajila was last season in the books of Chicken Inn. Dube and Sianchali are former Highlanders players. Dube was at Scottland where he finished the season with nine goals in the Northern Region.

Dube also played in South Africa and Botswana. Sianchali is a well-travelled player that once turned out for former PSL side Bulawayo City, Bantu Rovers, ZPC Kariba and CAPS United.

The ambitious side, which is based in Kwekwe and is owned by businessman Shepherd Chahwanda, also has ex-FC Platinum and Triangle striker, Donald Ngoma, in their books.

Ngoma is a seasoned player who also played for Young Africans in Tanzania. “It is always good to get a challenge. We are looking forward to doing well as a team. There are a lot of experienced players and we are hoping that all will shape up and we conquer together. It’s a very professional club” said Dube, who is fondly known as Balotelli in local football circles.

On Friday, the club engaged in a pre-season tour that saw them set camp in Mutare.

“This tour marks the beginning of an exciting journey as we prepare for the upcoming season with top-tier training sessions and thrilling friendly matches,” said the club on their official social media pages.

The City of Gold based outfit is scheduled to play two friendly matches against PSL side, Manica Diamonds.

To probably show that they really mean business, Hardrock recently unveiled stunning new kit designs. At their home ground, Chahwanda Stadium construction is in progress.

Chahwanda Stadium, also known as Heart Main Arena, is currently undergoing foundation work. The next phase will involve erecting the steel structure, marking a significant step in the stadium’s development.
