AMBITIOUS Hardrock have flexed their financial muscle and completed the biggest signing, in the domestic Premiership, since Knowledge Musona returned home exactly twelve months ago.
The Kasongo Boys, who pose the biggest threat to Scottland retaining their league title, unveiled Warriors forward, Prince Dube, just days after he celebrated winning the Tanzanian Premiership title with Young Africans.
The Warriors forward could make his debut for his new club when they host CAPS United at Rufaro on Sunday if all his papers are processed in time.
It’s a huge statement of intent, not only for Hardrock, but for the Castle Lager Premiership which now has clubs with the financial muscle to compete with their Tanzanian counterparts.
A few years ago, such a transfer would have been IMPOSSIBLE because local clubs could not compete with the top Tanzanian clubs.
But, things have changed dramatically since the arrival of these ambitious clubs backed by rich owners who are on a mission to change the game’s landscape.
This has seen a number of players being recruited from neighbouring countries.
Hardrock’s signing of Prince Dube will certainly provoke a response from Scottland who are being linked with Namibian hitman Peter Shalulile, who has left Mamelodi Sundowns.
Dube, 28, was unveiled at Chahwanda in Kwekwe yesterday by Hardrock president Shepherd Magodora Chahwanda.
He will add firepower upfront, playing alongside Soccer Star of the Year Washington Navaya, and will fill the void left by Zambian forward Andrew Phiri.
The Zambian left last month.
Dube has had stints with Highlanders, Azam in Tanzania, SuperSport United in South Africa’s PSL and, most recently, Young Africans.
He is known for his pace, movement and ability to score goals with either foot.
The Kasongo Boys have been aggressive on the market.
They have also signed right-back Mcdonald Rameck from Malawian top side Silver Strikers.
They have also brought in Warriors defender Gerald Takwara to add muscle to their defence.
Takwara has experience from playing in Saudi Arabia, Libya, and Mozambique.
He could make his debut for the club on Sunday when Hardrock host CAPS United in what is expected to be a blockbuster league match at Chahwanda.
The Kwekwe side lost the reverse encounter 0-2 at Rufaro.
Hardrock’s foreign contingent is growing.
The club also have the Eswatini duo of Yeki Khumalo and Mavuso Dlamini.
