HARDROCK chairman Wellington Mpandare says the ambitious Castle Lager Premier Soccer League debutants are still open to more signings as they chase a sustained maiden title challenge.

The Kwekwe outfit believes they can match Scottland’s record and win the championship on the first time of asking.

Mpandare and coach Kelvin Kaindu have been among the busiest since the mid-season window opened in July.

Hardrock have already brought in the pair of Zimbabwe internationals — striker Prince Dube and defender Gerald Takwara.

Hardrock have also looked beyond the country’s borders and lured Malawi-based McDonald Rameck and the Eswatini duo of Thubelihle Mavuso and Yekisizwe Khumalo.

“We are not finished yet,” Mpandare told Zimpapers Sports Hub.

“If there is another top-quality player out there and our coaches want him, we will go for him. We have a very supportive president in Shepherd Chahwanda.”

Hardrock are exceeding expectations in their maiden season in the top-flight season.

They sit second with 39 points from 20 games, seven behind leaders Scottland who are on 46 from 21 matches.

Hardrock still await the outcome of their abandoned league game against Dynamos, for which the PSL disciplinary committee has ruled that it be concluded by playing the remaining 14 minutes on neutral Baobab in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

Barring any late developments, that shortened match is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

Should Kaindu’s men win, they will close the gap on Scottland ahead of their clash against fourth-placed Herentals at Rufaro on Sunday.

Mpandare said the club’s pull is not just about money.

“It’s the organisation, infrastructure, and professional way of doing things.

After a tour of our facilities, no one says no,” he said.

“There are few clubs that own stadiums in Africa. Even all the South African clubs don’t have stadiums of their own.”

The investment in infrastructure has matched the recruitment drive, with the new arrivals adding experience and depth in all departments.
