The July 31 harmonised elections were free, peaceful, credible and a true reflection of the will of the people of Zimbabwe, Sadc has said.
In his final report commenting on the nature of the elections, head ofthe Sadc Election Observer Mission to Zimbabwe Mr Bernard Mwembe said opposition parties should work in unison with Zanu-PF to ensure removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

He said Zanu-PF would remain in power for the next century if sanctions remained in place.
After delivering his report, Mr Mwembe paid a courtesy call on President Mugabe to brief him on his report.
Mr Mwembe said they noted some anomalies such as late provision of the voters roll and media polarisation.

He said despite those anomalies, the 14-member bloc concluded that the election was a true reflection of the will of the people of Zimbabwe.

“On credibility of the election process, a lot has been said to the negative,” he said. “SEOM however, while agreeing that such issues as the delay of Voters Roll and media polarisation, there so many other elements that when put together elevated the election to a credible status, the free election environment, the peaceful environment in which the electiontook place, unhindered and non-intimidation to candidates and voters.
