interview during a voter mobilisation exercise in Belvedere, Harare recently Zanu-PF secretary for finance in District 1 in Harare Cde Shiraaz Kassam said the forthcoming harmonised elections were critical for the future development of the country.
“The ongoing exercise offers an opportunity for Zimbabweans to register or check whether their names appear in the voters roll.
“We appeal to all Zimbabweans especially our Zanu-PF supporters to register and vote in the forthcoming elections because we cannot afford to lose as this will result in the loss of what we have gained in the past 33 years since the attainment of independence,” Cde Kassam said.
Government has embarked on a mobile voter registration exercise as required by the law to afford an opportunity to ordinary Zimbabweans to register to vote ahead of the elections to be held before June 29.
Cde Kassam also said the indigenisation programme being spearheaded by Zanu-PF was meant to correct the historical prejudices of white colonial government and called on members of other minority communities to take advantage of its benefits.
“This programme is meant for all the people that were segregated by the colonial regime that is why we also appeal to all members of the minority communities that were also marginalised by the colonial regime to take advantage of this noble programme,” he said.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Mr Aguy Georgias recently met members of the Coloured community in Bulawayo to educate them on opportunities they could take advantage of that Government has created.
