Hartmann win Super8 Schools Rugby Festival

regulation time. Hartmann House emerged winners, lifting the cup for the first time since the festival started in 2004.
Munyaradzi Musarurwa broke the deadlock with a touchdown following a brilliant move that earned his side five more points.

On their way to the final the Little Saints beat Hellenic 22-0 in the first semi-final that saw them book a place into the main game while Gateway were 7-5 victors over St John’s  Prep.

Tinotenda Chipfumbu, Deon Gumbo, Steven Terera and Rukudzo Manyeza all came in with a try apiece as the Little Saints made light work of Hellenic.
St John’s Prep were the defending champions, having won the festival for the past four successive years, but luck was not on their side this time around as they were edged by Gateway by just two points.

St John’s coach, Ryan Barbour, said his boys played well although they lost in sudden death.
“The boys played very well and they could have won, the match was competitive and I am proud of them,” said Barbour.
St John’s sports director, Matthew Mbundire, said they were honoured to host the tournament.

“We were very happy to host the festival and we are hoping that we will be able to grab our title back next year.
“The festival was good but it was sad that we had a player from Hellenic who broke his arm and was rushed to the hospital, “said Mbundire.

Meanwhile, Harare Province selector, Wellington Ndimutseyi, said they picked a 40-man training squad from the festival which will see players being divided into two sides for the inter-provincial tournament.

“We selected 40 players for the Harare provincial teams, everything went well and we believe we will come up with strong squads,” said Ndimutseyi.
