Open Classic tourney on cards

US$10 000 tournament. The Open committee will sponsor the event.

Several professionals have been inactive since taking part in the Zimbabwe Open.
Simon Katembenuka, who has played at the course for several years, is likely to feature prominently together with his brothers — Mairosi and Anywhere.

Katembenuka’s big challenge is likely to come from Laiford Yadyo, who had a promising start this season.
Yadyo, who usually trains at the club, knows the course very well.

Julius Kamalizeni also has good knowledge of the course where he played before moving to Borrowdale Brooke.
The local professionals have been inactive as the Zambezi Tour is taking time to release the calendar.

Zambezi tour communications manager, Tendai Gwatiringa, confirmed that the Open Classic will be held this Friday.
“The Zimbabwe Open Committee will sponsor the US$10 000 Open Classic at Wingate Park Golf Club this Friday and Saturday.

“We are expecting a large field in the two rounds of 36 holes stroke play format,” Gwatiringa said.
