BUILDING on the success of “The Pursuit” short film, Hatiperi has announced that he is now expanding his creative journey into more short films.
The short film made waves around the country as it featured the new Trabablas Interchange.
The film, which he directed under the Multiperi Creative Agency, featured Chief Ben, Yayha Goodvibes, Comic Elder, Tamy Moyo and Wesy.
In an interview with the Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Emmanuel Chima, the producer, said after the film’s release and warm reception, they are now expanding their creative journey.
“That was the first time producing a film and the production was great and a success.”
Casting was so easy as most of the actors are already skit makers and most of them also have a background in acting.
“Chief Ben has been making skits as a gangster so that was just a walk in the park and also making films with people that are passionate makes the work easy.
“Wesy can run and we were perfect, Tamy Moyo is just so good, she’s just a natural, Comic Elder was selling bananas, something which the viewers didn’t expect.
“With a short film, each scene is a larger percentage of the film.” Chaima added:
“If your film is 12 minutes, then one scene could be a quarter of it. We have to consider the impact that it is making.
“Ultimately, the bulk of the short version’s plot came from abridging the feature’s second act with select moments from the first and third portions slotted in for a sense of completeness.
“As a film enthusiast, making this short film from scratch was such a gratifying experience because it only deepened my love and knowledge of this medium.
“Before making this movie, I gained a lot of knowledge about the technicalities of film through watching movies, reading reviews, watching videos from critics and using Google.
“However, actually, making a movie made it much easier and more enjoyable to grasp the details of what is a film.”
Chaima called for corporates to collaborate with them.
“The passion is there and we’ve proven that we can do it. So, for now, we are going to be working on the funding as we try to release a few more films.
“We are currently working on two films and the release dates will be announced soon.
“The funding, the preparation, the structuring of ideas about where the film might end up, the life it will have after completion, that’s all different.
“But, besides those material realities, the creative process is not necessarily as different as people make it out to be.”
