One lucky child is Major Junior Murombedzi, aged 11, who has a multi-talented gift of taking pictures.
The young lad has qualified for several roles in AFZ as a junior parade commander.
Murombedzi later chose to do photography after exhibiting some interest in the visual arts.
“I was first chosen as a parade commander ahead of the opening of the 21st opening of the Junior Parliament but due to some changes l was later chosen to do photography which has been my dream for years just to hold the camera and play around with it”
“I was given a Canon 60D which was really cool and fun and I was trained by my mentor on the basics of camera handling, exposure and some few functions and I was good to go,” said Murombedzi.
Major Junior Murombedzi said although being a parade commander could have been fun the experience of just capturing memories alongside some of the big names in the photography business like Sunday Mail chief photographer Believe Nyakudjara, and senior photographers from the AFZ inspires him a lot.
“Jostling for positions was just awesome in an attempt to have better angles especially photographing the Head of State and Government President Mugabe. At an age of 11 I have been honoured with a great opportunity to photograph the President. Many people pray for such an opportunity and they fail to get it especially at such a tender age.”
Murombedzi is the vice headboy of Manyame Primary School and has a dream of becoming a doctor.
The boy said his dream is start his own photography and filming company soon after finishing school.
Murombedzi encouraged all young people not to be intimidated by what they see but to have faith in themselves.
“Don’t look down upon yourself. Chase your dream. I know that not all are academically gifted but let us use our talents to develop ourselves,” he emphasised.
He said: “For every young person fear not, believe in what you want to do and be committed to excellence is the recipe for success.”
