Health expo preps a gear up

convergence will hold a conference later this month for regulators and a medical business seminar held on the sidelines, while visitors are set to benefit from free health services.
Expo director Mr Shepherd Chakanza said close to 100 exhibitors had confirmed their participation, up from the 43 who booked places last year.
“The event this year will see the representation of international brands in the medical equipment field and other products.
“We anticipate a 50 percent increase from last year, and more than 5 000 visitors. Among the major highlights will be the exhibition of high technology equipment and devices, health products and services, research and related areas,” he said.
Mr Chakanza said the long-term objective of the expo was to demonstrate to the world the medical knowledge, expertise and skills that Zimbabwe possesses, and in the process, identify and close subsequent gaps. “This expo will provide a strong strategic and technical keyhole for our indigenous health sector players. Besides, it will help to ensure the provision of quality products and services through the strengthening and promotion of effective and systematic monitoring of positive and negative feedback through evaluation,” he said.
Mr Chakanza said this was an innovative way of contributing towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals through the identification of business opportunities and promoting collaboration among health professionals, medical manufacturers, distributors, services users, stakeholders and policy-makers.
“We strive to offer our exhibitors a unique opportunity as they exhibit their merchandise and services,” said Chakanza.
Among those that the expo aims to benefit are manufacturers and distributors of medical equipment, pharmaceutical companies, health insurance, dealers in laboratory equipment and machines, medical research and disease control centres, academic and training institutions and wellness centres.
