Mujuru has said.
Speaking during the handover of 100 blankets and 100 comforters to Howard Mission Hospital in Chiweshe yesterday, acting President Mujuru commended health professionals for their dedication to duty while working under difficult conditions.
The comforters were donated to Acting President Mujuru by a local company, Waverley Blankets last week for people in her constituency but she decided to forward some to the hospital.
“Life for these doctors and nurses has been difficult for the past 13 years because of the illegal sanctions but they have worked tirelessly to ensure that service delivery is provided in the health sector,” she said.
“Government has been and remains concerned with the conditions of service of its workers and as such will always prioritise that when our economy improves. It is our prayer day and night that things will be fine one day for Zimbabwe if we remain dedicated.”
Acting President Mujuru said while some health professionals had left the country during the economic turmoil, others became resilient and “soldiered on”.

“These are the kind of nurses we have at this hospital and it is our hope that this spirit will continue to guide you until we reach our destination,” she said.
She hailed Howard Mission Hospital, which is run by The Salvation Army, for complementing Government efforts to provide proper health care to the public.
“The Salvation Army is one of the few churches that have been supporting Government even during the liberation struggle and after independence,” she said.
“The Hospital is now well known for the good services it offers to Zimbabweans from all corners. I personally attended school at Howard School before joining the liberation struggle and I am a witness to the good work that has been coming from this side and we urge you to continue with the good work.”
Acting President Mujuru urged local companies to support Government in mobilising resources for developmental projects.
“What Waverly has done is commendable and will go a long way in saving Government money. We are now focusing on other areas knowing that one stage has been covered and we welcome more companies that support us genuinely,” she said.
The Salvation Army Zimbabwe Territorial Commander, Commissioner Henry Nyagah thanked Acting President Mujuru for the donation.
“You have got a busy schedule but you found time to be with us and this is a clear indication that Government loves its people,” he said.
“The blankets and comforters will make the patients loved and cared for. Of course the hospital has other needs but this is a boost that we should not take for granted. “
He said plans were underway to construct a new hospital in Chiweshe soon.
“The funds for construction have been sourced and the project will commence soon,” Commissioner Nyagah said.
