police spokesperson Chief Inspector James Sabau yesterday said there is maximum security since the show started on Friday.
He said no serious crime incidences have been recorded so far.
“We have heavily deployed officers both in uniform and plain clothes to ensure peace and tranquillity prevails,” he said.
Chief Insp Sabau said there was also a police post at the Exhibition Park where members of the public should report cases. He urged parents and guardians to look after their children.
Police were carrying out awareness campaigns educating people to take care of their children.
He encouraged parents to stash papers with phone numbers and home addresses in their children’s pockets.
“This will make it easy to identify them in case they are lost. And those who lose their children should quickly inform our officers manning the police post,” Chief Insp Sabau said.
These awareness campaigns come after Given Flint Matapure (3) went missing at the Exhibition Park in August last year. His remains were discovered in April this year at the show grounds. This year’s show is running up to August 27 under the theme” Innovative, Inspirational and Informative”.
