HELIDRIVE National Air Rescue Service has to date successfully transported approximately 485 patients with pediatric cases accounting for 40 percent of the total.

According to one of the doctors, Major Mhondiwa, a total of 130 patients were in the Matabeleland region, providing critical air ambulance services across the region.

He said among the patients from the region were four urgent transfers of children with haematological malignancies who were flown to Harare for specialized treatment.
“A recent notable mission involved the rapid evacuation of a patient seriously injured in a road traffic accident (RTA) along the Harare-Bulawayo road,” said Dr Mhondiwa.
