The inaugural Zimbabwe Music Factory, that will see several budding artists nurture their different and diverse talents, will take place this Friday at Hellenic Cultural Centre. The music factory is a platform for the “indie” artistes to perform to a live audience, capturing different genres, dance styles. It will also equip them with knowledge on how they can penetrate the market.The show which will now be held every Friday will see upcoming musician Roshnee hosting the event.
In an interview with the founder of music factory, pianist Tinashe Nyamukapa said he was happy with the initiative that will expose a lot of untamed talent.
“Our aim is to showcase independent artistes, especially the upcoming ones who might be struggling to break into the market. This is a free platform and we will provide a PA system and artistes are allowed to do international popular covers that can resonate with the audience and no profane music will be allowed,” he said.
He said the factory will also serve as a training ground for aspiring and upcoming musicians.
“Registration is going to begin on the day but already have some artistes who are interested in the platform. We want to promote and nurture talent by creating for them a hub and fan engagement,” he said.
Nyamukapa said each participant will have 30 minutes of fame.
“We will have a session of about 30 minutes. A musician that gets a session and is not able to attend should inform the administrator at least three days before the event so that a backup musician can be called to fill in the slot. We are going to be donating 10 percent of all proceeds to Emerald Hill Children’s Home,” he said.
He said they have also partnered with Sonic signals that will be providing LED screens for the event.
“I am planning to do this every Friday and I am happy we have some sponsors who are coming on board. With time we are going to blend them with contract on recording deals, promoters and shows among others,” he said.
