Herbal libido boosters: When desire goes awry as erection lasts four days

WHEN it comes to sex, some people want to enjoy themselves more than what is humanly possible, so they take more herbs than they should.

While these herbal libido boosters or supplements are popular, medical experts warn of potential health complications associated with excessive use.

On the other hand, herbalists argue that the treatments are safe when used correctly, but when abused they could bring health complications.

However, in a disturbing turn of events, a suspected gold panner from Hope Fountain on the outskirts of Bulawayo’s bid to “rig” an erection by consuming herbs went horribly wrong when he suffered an embarrassing ailment, a prolonged erection that reportedly lasted for four days.

It is reported the gold panner only identified as Munyaradzi found himself in an unfortunate situation after chewing the roots of a herbal plant believed to enhance sexual drive.

Instead of having a “free and fair erection” after taking the herbs, the man experienced a prolonged erection a few hours after consuming the herbs.

According to a source, when Munyaradzi started experiencing excruciating pain and a persistent sex drive, he confessed to his wife that he had chewed roots of a herbal plant believing it would enhance his sexual performance.

“He began experiencing a persistent sex drive and excruciating pain after taking the herbs,” the source said. “Panicked, Munyaradzi quickly confessed to his friends that he had chewed the roots of a herbal aphrodisiac, suspecting he had overdosed.”

He reportedly received advice to use the herbs from a friend who claimed it would make him a tiger bed.

The source said Munyaradzi experienced “mild discomfort when walking” due to the prolonged erection. He later sought relief from a traditional healer, who provided him with a herbal concoction that soothed the discomfort.

Contacted for comment, Munyaradzi declined to confirm or deny the details of this incident.

He, however, threatened this reporter with an unspecified action if the story was published in the Press.

“Where did you get my number? What you are asking it’s none of your business. If ever that story is published in the newspaper, you will see what will happen to you,” he thundered before ending the call abruptly.

A doctor, who preferred anonymity, for professional reasons cautioned men against buying unregulated herbal remedies or using drugs to enhance their sexual performance. The doctor emphasized the importance of avoiding any libido boosters without a prescription.

“People should not use herbs that are not sold in licensed drug shops and pharmacies. This is because many of the people selling these herbal medicines cannot explain how the drug works; how the body handles it from when it enters your body to when it is eliminated; what diseases the drug treats specifically, as well as side effects, and that is very worrying. They also cause damage to vital organs such as the liver and kidney injury, sometimes leading to kidney failure,” the doctor warned.

Ends.
