A MUTORASHANGA man has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for raping and indecently assaulting his 13-year-old employer’s daughter.

Adam Nyahuma (27) was found guilty on two counts of rape and indecent assault by Chinhoyi regional magistrate, Ignatius Mugova.

He initially sentenced Nyahuma to 12 years before four were set aside on condition he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

Prosecutor Nyasha Sibesha said Nyahuma was employed by the juvenile’s father as a cattle herder.

The State proved that sometime in December last year, the girl was alone at the family’s homestead in Winsor Village.

Nyahuma arrived at the homestead at around 1pm and found the girl in her bedroom.

The court heard that Nyahuma entered the bedroom, pretending to be collecting some tobacco, which was kept behind the door.

He then shut the door, grabbed the victim and started fondling her breasts while trying to remove her undergarments.

The girl screamed and Nyahuma dashed out of the hut.

She narrated her ordeal to her aunt, who lives at the next homestead.

Her aunt assured the juvenile that she would tell her parents, but remained silent.

The court heard that on another day, Nyahuma approached the juvenile in her hut.

He grabbed and pinned her against the wall and raped her once. A report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
