Defending champions Herentals Under-20 will battle for the Harare Metropolitan Province Independence Cup against Harare City at the Glamis Arena Show Grounds today.
The two side have had mixed fortunes in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League.
Herentals have so far won two of their three league assignments this term, while the Sunshine Boys have collected four points out of a possible nine.
Harare City lost to high-flying Ngezi Platinum Stars developmental side over the weekend while the Young Students beat Banket United 1-0.
This was their first win in Banket on the third attempt.
Herentals Under-19 coach, Paul Benza, said they felt honoured to be invited to play in such a prestigious national event.
“This is very important for us as a club to be recognised to participate in national events.
“We take this opportunity with great honour and our win in Banket has come at the right time as it brings motivation on its own to get a positive result,” said Benza.
The Young Students promoted four of their key players to their senior side in the Castle Lager Premiership.
They promoted Milton Chimedza, Joseph Chitavira, Lyeto Antony and Nevermind Antonio.
He said there is no joy that exceeds grooming youngester to the top-flight league.
Almost 75 percent of their senior side have graduated from his Northern Region side.
“I felt relieved to finally break the jinks of not winning despite scoring in each time we visited Banket.
“I’m delighted every time a player gets promoted and it really gives credibility to our work at the developmental side.
“Our priority this season is to finish in a respectable position particularly in the top four,” he said.
