SOUTH Africa-based artist, Nadia Nakai, is a bitter woman.
Nadia is not happy with Changamire Awards organiser, Jackson Zimboy, who allegedly failed to pay her fully for her performance at the awards held recently.
According to close sources, Nadia was allegedly not given her balance and her return ticket was not paid for, prompting her to call the organiser a con-artist.
She wrote on her Instagram page, “Jackson Zimboy is a con-artist. Don’t work with him ever, and that’s it period. What he’s put me through, hai never again. The amount of DMs I have got since my post telling me how much of a scammer he is. Like wow bro”.
Multiple sources say Nadia was supposed to land in Zimbabwe in the morning but Zimboy changed the flight to 4pm and she only arrived in the evening.
After the awards, the cars that brought Nadia and her team to the venue were no longer available.
“On Thursday morning they were almost kicked out of their hotel because Zimboy didn’t pay for breakfast and Nadia was about to use her own money to pay. Karma covered and paid for the rest of the expenses and also paid Nadia the balance and paid for her return flight,” said the source.
However, Zimboy refuted all claims stating that it was Nadia who changed the flight and caused him inconveniences that was why he delayed paying her balance.
“She came late for the awards, she said she had something to do in South Africa at 1pm and I had to book the 4pm flight and she arrived in Zimbabwe around 7pm. “She got to the venue and felt she was overdressed and went back again to change and ended up performing around midnight.
“People who paid to see Nadia Nakai did not see her, as far as Changamire is concerned, she didn’t do her part and was in breach of contract.
“The sponsors pulled out because she did not deliver, they were complaining that she didn’t show up at the red carpet event where their logos were. She was supposed to endorse their brands,” he said.
“We didn’t even want her to perform, she was supposed to be in the ceremony.
“She took advantage of the platform since she knows she is the bigger person and there is no way my voice is ever going to be heard. We paid Nadia in full the day after the awards. The Karma guys are the ones who were owing her.
“I was on contract for no contact with Nadia after the awards so it was no longer my responsibility to take care of her after the awards. She, however, didn’t understand why I was leaving her when I’m the one who brought her here,” said Zimboy.
