adminIT’S all systems go at Mutare Motoring Club tomorrow (Saturday) when specialist drivers converge for a mega car burnouts fiesta.
The event, dubbed the Heroes Splash Spin Fest, will see more than 20 professional motorists taking part as they represent Team BMW and Team Altezza for the contest.
Speaking to The Weekender and confirming that the racing challenge spectacle — which has been well prepared for — is on, organisers of the event said all was set for the jamboree.
“It is finally here and happening on Saturday (tomorrow).
There is a lot of excitement and expectation is already in the air. We promise a thrilling fête that will leave everyone asking for more.
Spectators will eat from the palms of the entertaining drivers as they have a lot to offer and a few more surprises in the offing on the day.
“This will definitely be a spectacularly different day here at Mutare Motoring Club as we will bring variety to entertainment, with something for everyone from the kids, adults and high-fliers.
Besides the car burnouts or spin fest, there shall also be leisure amusement for children like horse-riding, jumping castles, face-painting, interaction with Jojo the Clown and waterslides, while adults will get a full treat on music, braai as well as full bar and catering.
If people come in their droves, young and adult, we guarantee that they will not be disappointed,” said one of the organisers, Johannes “Nyatate” Tenga.
He added that to ensure that only the best of acts shall be on display, they have put together an impressive line-up of stunt men coming from different parts of the country like Mutare, Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Beitbridge.
Nyatate said they had plans to regularly hold more similar shows at the venue.
The car burnouts, which are increasing in popularity at Mutare Motoring Club will involve both teams showcasing pulsating moves and stunning stunts behind the wheel.
Spin fests are an entertainment sport performed by professional drivers and stuntmen in a safely barricaded and controlled racing arena.
It involves various stunts performed with cars whirling around in an enclosed track at high speed with blurring sounds and screeching tyres so they burn out and produce smoke that billows around the spinning car.
The drivers and stuntmen also perform high-risk movements like jumping in and out of the car while it is in motion.
