Hero’s mother dies at the age of 105

The mother to the late hero and Zanla military commander Justin Chauke passed away on August 4 at the age of 105. Gogo Makhakhani Khosa died after a short illness.
She passed on at her rural home in Chikombedzi, Chiredzi. The Member of Parliament for Chiredzi South Retired Brigadier General Itai Gwanetsa said Gogo Khosa would be laid to rest tomorrow at Chinyenga in Chikombedzi.

She is survived by seven children and 51 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Her son Chauke was one of the most highly regarded Zanla commanders and veterans of the liberation struggle.

He was among the first four Zanla guerillas that were sent to join Frelimo in the Tete province of Mozambique at the height of the 1970s war of independence.

He died on October 16 1994.
