Herrera hopeful of quick return

ANDER HERRERA has revealed that a “small muscular problem” ruled him out of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday, with the midfielder hopeful of being available again soon.

After the draw at Villa Park, Herrera wrote on his Instagram page: “Great job guys! One more point that keeps us at the top. I could not help the team by a small muscular problem, but soon will be ready again.”

United, who have been beset by injury problems this season, are third in the Premier League, seven points behind Manchester City and the leaders Chelsea.

Van Gaal’s men entertain Newcastle United on Boxing Day with Herrera likely to undergo a late fitness test to see if he can be available for that match, as well as for United’s visit to Tottenham Hotspur two days later. — The Guardian
