Mwonzora and his co-accused were in Mutare Remand Prison after Justice Susan Mavangira reserved her ruling in Harare yesterday.
They were arrested three weeks ago in connection with alleged violence at Chatindo School in Nyamaropa. It is alleged the 24 held a meeting at the school, where Zanu-PF youths wanted to play social soccer.
The State alleged the group attacked Zanu-PF youths and forcibly ejected them from the school.
It is the State’s case that the gang damaged some buildings and was violent at Regina Coeli Hospital.
Mwonzora is a Copac co-chairperson and a senior partner with Mwonzora and Partners law firm.
The 24 were granted bail by Nyanga magistrate Mr Ignatio Mhene, but the Attorney-General appealed against the decision.
During the appeal hearing, law officer Mr Edmore Nyazamba argued that the suspects were a threat to society and should remain in remand prison.
He added that this would also protect them from potential revenge attacks.
Defence lawyer Mr Trust Maanda oppo-sed the appeal saying it lacked merit.
