A LURID 23 seconds video clip showing two pupils from Mutare Girls’ and Mutare Boys’ High Schools caught pants down after a steamy sex romp in the bush has been trending on various social media platforms since last week.

The clip, which has been trending mainly on WhatsApp and Facebook, shows the two pupils struggling to dress up after an intruder had caught them on camera while they were having quality time in the bush.

Efforts by the teenage lovebirds to grab the camera from the camera person were futile as the latter was heard saying there is nothing the two could do as he had already filming them.

The two, who are understood to be in Form Three at the two schools, were in their school uniforms when they were captured on camera, thereby suggesting that this could have happened during or soon after lesson time.

Mutare Girls’ High acting headmaster, Mr Innocent Mukono confirmed receiving the report, but referred all questions to officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

“We handled the matter in the best professional manner we could. However, you may get a proper comment from the ministry as per our protocol,” said Mr Mukono.

When contacted for comment, Manicaland Provincial Education Director, Mr Richard Gabaza said the issue is yet to be formally communicated to his office.

He, however, shed light on possible procedures that should be undertaken when such incidences occur.

“Under normal circumstances, Policy Number 35 is usually employed in dealing with such an issue. More often, the pupils in question are suspended from school pending a thorough investigation into the matter.

“The findings of that investigation then determines the outcome of the case. Policy 35 is very clear on those procedures. In most cases, the pupils are either excluded or expelled from the school. Exclusion, whereby the pupil is transferred, could be the lightest judgement of such a case,” he said.

The incident has since ignited fresh debate on whether condoms should be distributed to school going children.
Some sections of society are against this move for various reasons, including religious, traditional and cultural beliefs, as well as fears that the move will lead to early sexual debut.

As it stands, minors can only access sexual health services through their parents or guardians.

A number of campaigns, including Condomise Zimbabwe, have made significant strides in ensuring that sexually active people have access to condoms.
