Highlanders coach takes two jobs

BOSSO development side coach Melusi a?Mabalekaa? Sibanda will double up as the ladies team Royalsa coach since it has no substantive gaffer.

Former Royals coach Samukeliso Ndlovu is serving a suspension imposed by the club executive pending investigations into a donation scandal involving eight sewing machines and seven cellphones from Australian club Melbourne City FC.

Ndlovu failed to account for and hand over the donation from the Australians meant for the Royals and was relieved of her duties last week.

The Royals a a majority of them schoolgirls from Sobukhazi and Nkulumane high schools a are now working under the tutelage of Sibanda, a former Highlanders Football Club utility player.

Whatas his assessment of the team so far?

a?I wish I could leave coaching the developmental side (Bosso90) and concentrate on the Royals because the kids are fast learners, they are eager to impress and are very disciplined,a? said Sibanda jokingly.

But thereas real work to be done.

a?On a serious note, the biggest challenge is to teach the players to maintain shape. They had a tendency of clustering around the ball, it was not surprising to see the right back suddenly playing the position of chief striker,a? he said.

Sibanda said he divides his time between the Royals and Bosso90 and sits on the bench for the ladies team matches on Saturdays provided the menas side is not playing on the same day.

a?Itas encouraging to note that the Royals are no longer losing by embarrassing score lines of 8 nil and upwards. The kids just need time and will be give bigger clubs such as Inline Academy a run for their money,a? he added.

He is assisted by Sphatho Ncube and fitness trainer Nothando Ndlovu.

In their last fixture the Royals beat Street Set 1-0 in Sizinda suburb.
