Highlanders, Dynamos possible starting lineups: Highlanders player ratings, assessments

Aron Ngwenya (30) — Joined Highlanders at the start of the season from Chicken Inn, where he served as understudy to former Warriors goalkeeper Donovan Bernard. He has since established himself as Bosso’s first-choice goalkeeper and produced a number of impressive displays. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to play out from the back, a key component of coach Benjani Mwaruwari’s philosophy. Operating almost as a sweeper-keeper, Ngwenya is often involved in building attacks from deep. While he has shown the ability to pull off spectacular saves, he remains susceptible to the occasional soft goal.

Andrew Mbeba (26) — Few players in the league can deliver a cross quite like Mbeba. The right-back, who came through Highlanders’ junior ranks and has represented the Young Warriors, is a joy to watch when in full flow. Combative in the tackle and technically gifted, he combines defensive discipline with attacking flair. His versatility allows him to slot in at centre-back when required.

Luckmore Mutumbi (24)— A dependable defender who has made the left-back position his own. Mutumbi has shown steady improvement and appears to be growing in confidence with every outing.

Solid defensively and willing to support attacks, he has the potential to become a key asset for the club if he continues on his current trajectory.

Tawanda Shenje (24) — Perhaps one of Highlanders’ most underrated performers this season. Shenje is composed in possession, reads the game well and rarely puts a foot wrong defensively. While he may not grab the headlines, his consistency and reliability have made him one of Bosso’s best acquisitions since arriving from Hwange.

Rainsome Pavari (32) — Having played for clubs such as Bulawayo City, FC Platinum and Manica Diamonds, Pavari brings a wealth of experience to the Highlanders midfield. His calm presence and game management skills provide stability in the middle of the park. While age may be catching up with him, his leadership qualities and football intelligence explain why he remains among the team’s captains.

Darlington Mukuli (26) — Naturally a holding midfielder, Mukuli has often been deployed in a more advanced role under Mwaruwari. He has performed admirably, but many believe his best position remains at the base of midfield, where his passing range, vision and ability to dictate the tempo can be fully utilised. His composure in possession is highly appreciated by the Bosso faithful.

Prince Ndlovu (20) — One of the most exciting young talents in the league. Blessed with pace, skill and confidence, Ndlovu is capable of beating defenders, delivering dangerous crosses and finishing chances.

Greater consistency could elevate him to another level, but he is already among the country’s finest wingers.

Never Rauzhi (25) — Rauzhi possesses blistering pace and can trouble any defence when running into space. His pressing ability makes him a valuable asset in Highlanders’ high-intensity approach. However, he must improve his finishing and decision-making in the final third to become a more complete attacker.

Benjamin Adeogun (20) — The Nigerian striker has shown glimpses of a natural goalscorer’s instinct and appears clinical when presented with opportunities inside the box. To become more effective, he needs to improve his hold-up play, link-up play and first touch. Developing a stronger understanding with his midfielders will make him a far more dangerous striker.

Mongameli Tshuma (24) — A midfielder blessed with good passing ability and technical quality. He is capable of driving the team forward from midfield but must improve his decision-making and finishing in crucial moments to maximise his potential.

Nomore Chinyerere (32) — One of Highlanders’ standout performers this season. The experienced defender has brought calmness, leadership and consistency to the backline. Strong in one-on-one situations and comfortable in possession, he has been instrumental in both defending and initiating attacks from deep.
