THE family of Thembelenkosini Hloli, a Highlanders fan killed on Saturday in Bulawayo by alleged Dynamos hooligans, has said they are waiting for a post mortem report pending burial at his rural home in Lower Gweru tomorrow.
Hloli was stabbed twice in the stomach and bled to death near Renkini Bus Terminus while running away from unruly Dembare fans in post-match violence that erupted after Bosso lost by a goal to nil at Barbourfields Stadium.
His sister and family spokesperson, Hlengiwe Hloli, said they were waiting for a postmortem report which might be released today.
“We are expecting his postmortem report tomorrow and if it’s released early we will leave Bulawayo for Lower Gweru under Chief Sogwala where his is going to be buried on Thursday,” said Hlengiwe.
Violence erupted soon after the match and anti-riot police had to be called in as supporters of both teams engaged in running battles outside the stadium.
Some Bosso fans were singing songs deemed tribal while a number of Dynamos fans were injured in the skirmishes.
Officials from both Highlanders and Dynamos have condemned the violence saying sports should be used to unite people not cause divisions.
