HIGHLANDERS have handed their supporters the opportunity to shape the club’s centenary celebrations by inviting them to select an all-time Best XI through a five-week voting exercise.
The initiative, dubbed Highlanders@100 | Bosso XI of All Time, will see supporters vote for their favourite players in different positions, with those receiving the most votes earning places in the historic team.
The exercise begins on Tuesday with the goalkeeper category, where supporters will be tasked with choosing the outstanding shot-stopper to occupy the No. 1 position in their dream Highlanders side.
Voting will take place every Tuesday over the next five weeks, with each week dedicated to a different playing position.
According to the club’s announcement, the voting structure will see one goalkeeper selected in the opening week, followed by four defenders, two midfielders, two wingers and two strikers.
The initiative seeks to bring together different generations of Highlanders supporters, allowing them to celebrate the players who have shaped the club’s rich football history.
From the legendary figures of the past to more recent heroes, the exercise is expected to spark debate among supporters over who deserves recognition in the ultimate Bosso team.
Highlanders have built a rich football legacy over the past century, with several outstanding players having represented the club and contributed to its standing as one of Zimbabwe’s biggest football institutions.
The fan-driven selection also gives supporters an opportunity to have their voices heard as the Bulawayo giants mark 100 years of existence.
The club encouraged its followers to participate in the exercise, describing it as an opportunity for fans to ensure that the legends who shaped its history continue to live on.
The voting will progress through the five positional categories before the final Highlanders@100 Best XI is unveiled.
