FORMER Railstars coach and Highlanders technical director, Keutsepilemang Ndebele, will on Sunday host a Father’s Day Social Soccer Tournament in Bulawayo, with the event expected to bring together football legends, social teams and families in celebration of fatherhood and community unity.
The tournament will be held at Gifford High School Grounds from 9am, with organisers declaring the event free for spectators.
Six teams — Highlanders Legends, Zvishavane Legends, Amavevane FC, Izinsizwa FC, Isigubhu FC and Maranatha FC — will compete in the one-day tournament.
Running under the theme, “Celebrating Fathers Through Sport, Unity and Community Development,” the tournament is designed to honour fathers while promoting healthy lifestyles and using football as a vehicle for community engagement.
Organisers said the initiative goes beyond competition, providing an opportunity for families, former football stars, supporters and community members to interact in a relaxed environment while celebrating the positive role fathers play in society.
They said the tournament seeks to recognise fathers as pillars of families and communities, while encouraging values such as teamwork, discipline, respect and social cohesion.
The event is also expected to provide entertainment and networking opportunities, with organisers hoping it will become an annual fixture on Bulawayo’s sporting calendar.
K-Cee Productions, which is organising the tournament, said the event forms part of its broader vision of connecting communities through sport and entertainment while creating platforms that strengthen social bonds.
Football enthusiasts and families from across the city have been invited to attend the tournament and support the participating teams in what promises to be a memorable day celebrating football, fatherhood and community spirit.
