Highlanders should maintain passing game

Highlanders v Black Rhinos

THIS is the type of football I have become accustomed to watching being played by Highlanders. They were building from the back with defenders passing the ball to the midfield with neat short passes.
Dumisani “Fazo” Ndlovu and Innocent Mapuranga were getting into the last third exchanging passes. It was so pleasing.

They were not pumping the ball up field. Everyone of the Highlanders players wanted to play the ball on the floor.

They scored beautiful goals from headers as a result of that.

Kelvin Kaindu and his technical team must maintain that type of play and I can assure them that they will get good results.

The fans will cheer the team for the entire 90 minutes.

Bosso have lost the championship in the last two seasons on goal difference and must stop delaying tactics when in the lead as goals scored may count at the end of the season.

Lastly, the technical team must make up their mind on the first choice goalkeeper and ensure a regular starting 11.

How goals are scored
Brazil v Chile
Chile conceded from a corner kick. The reason was failing to sandwich the player who flicked the cross in the penalty box.

Chile’s equaliser, Marcello failed to support a teammate after a throw-in resulting in them losing possession along the way. All the goals scored in this match came from set pieces.

Columbia v Uruguay
The first goal scored by Colombia striker James was the best technically executed I have seen in 47 years of watching football.

It will take me another 47 years to watch a goal like this. If this goal is not going to be the Goal of the Tournament, then which one is going to be, maybe the goal Cahill scored during the group stages?

Costa Rica v Greece
The goal scored by Costa Rica was constructed in a skilful manner that when the player executed the shot he did not shoot at goal but he passed into the net with precision. Greece scored the equaliser with so much determination what I learnt from this game was the three Ds.

Discipline, Determination and Devotion

Devotion was exhibited by the two teams. Of course the game was settled after a penalty shootout.

Germany v Algeria
What a fascinating game to watch, it was! It was a heroic performance by the Algerian team. As for Germany all I can say is Germany never surrenders.

Joke: Messi brings a girl to his flat from a party. The girl asks for a bathroom. She comes out wearing a beautiful night dress. She finds Messi standing in the middle of the bedroom with his clothes on. She asks why.

Messi replies; “I cannot perform without Xavi and Iniesta.”

Keep on watching the games.

Until next week.
