Highlands company loses more than US$40k to armed robbers

A Highlands company yesterday lost more than US$40 000 to armed robbers.

Highlands Bizhub is yet to ascertain the total amount of money and property lost when five armed robbers pounced at the premises.

The robbers ransacked 30 offices and shops housed there and tied the hands of Kilo Security Systems’ guard at around 1am.

Various properties were stolen from and the robbers went on to enter management offices and force opened two safes using a grinder and stole yet to be ascertained amount of money.

They opened office Number 15 and stole US$40 000, which was in the safe.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Highlands.

“Total value stolen at the premises is yet to be ascertained as most shops and offices owners are still verifying what was stolen.

“In one of the offices, US$40 000 was stolen from a safe.

“The accused persons left a metal bar, bolt cutter and a torch at the scene and they damaged the CCTV server,” said Insp Chakanza.
