Dave Muirhead of Highlands Sports Club, who is part of the organisers, said all was set for the tournament.
“The singles’ Masters tournament is one of the best and most prestigious, we are happy that finally it has come and all is in place ahead of the event.
“We want to ensure that the green (fields) are properly marked and all is set up. The women will use the ‘A’ green while men will use the ‘B’ green. It is going to be a busy weekend for the bowlers as each player will play nine matches”. Muirhead said.
Tony Havercroft, player for Borrowdale Country Club, said he was happy to be part of the prestigious tournament.
“It is an honour to be selected to play at the Masters as this is a very prestigious singles tournament and I am planning to take the game as it comes.
“It is my first time to take part although I have taken part in a number of tournaments.”
Denis Streak and Trish Davies are the current champions of the Masters tournament.
