CHIPINGE was a hive of activity last Saturday night as thousands of people from all walks of life packed the Chipinge Showgrounds to the brim for the Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole Gala.

The show which began around 6pm and ran into Sunday morning left the entertainment starved Chipinge community clamouring for more.

Local artistes were not left out with a Grade Three learner, Esnath Mhlanga of Maronga Primary School stealing the limelight with her poem, Magigwana, which chronicled the life history of the late national hero, Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole.

There was a star-studded line-up which gave revellers a memoral.

Not to be outdone was DJ Fantan who was also on fire.

New sungura kids, Tatenda and Esau Macheso, wrapped up the event as they performed new offerings as well as their father’s hits.

The new kids in the entertainment bloc delivered an impressive performance such that revellers never felt the absence of the king of sungura, Alick Macheso.

The gala producer, Dr Anywhere Mutambudzi hailed the Chipinge community for gracing the gala in their numbers.

“As Government, we are excited by the turn-out of the people to this historic event. It was a gala for our national hero, Revered Ndabaningi Sithole, as we celebrate his life and achievements as the founding President of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU).

“Despite some differences during the struggle, the Second Republic took a bold decision to honour his role by declaring him a national hero,” he said.

Romeo Gasa, Mechanic Manyeruke, Blessing Shumba, Rocky and Iyasa were among of the artistes who also gave impressive performances.
