Hit and run accident claims juvenile’s life

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a motorist whose car hit and killed a 16-year-old boy at the 119-kilometre peg along the Harare-Mutare highway.

The juvenile succumbed to head injuries he sustained during the accident which occurred on Sunday 24 May, 2025.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the fatal accident in a statement.

“Police in Marondera are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a fatal hit and run road traffic accident which occurred at the 119-kilometre peg along Harare –Mutare Road on May 24, 2025, at around 7 pm,” he said.

“An unknown motorist hit a male juvenile (16) and did not stop after the accident. The victim sustained head injuries and died on the spot.

“Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station.”
